Geeks, Nerds & Otakus Edition

Tuesday, June 16, 2026 — Mardi 16 Juin 2026

A tech & geek-culture roundup, with a tricolore spotlight on Station F

What's up, everybody! It's Tuesday (Mardi), June (Juin) 16, 2026 — and on Tuesdays we celebrate the Geeks, the Nerds, the Otakus, the Intellos, and the Strebers. This one's for all of you.

Today is also a special one for me personally: France Quantum 2026 is happening right now at Station F in Paris, and I'm watching the coverage closely as a proud supporter of French tech sovereignty. On top of that, I'm currently a candidate for La French Tech SF — so today's edition is a little celebration of both. 🇫🇷🇺🇸

A new episode of "Coffee with Zaki" VLOG in French is coming later this week — stay tuned.

🇫🇷 Spotlight: France Quantum & French Tech Sovereignty

Live from Station F today, OVHcloud — Europe's leading cloud provider and a co-founding member of France Quantum — announced a partnership with Welinq to build the quantum datacenters of tomorrow. Welinq's technology allows homogeneous or heterogeneous clusters of quantum computers to work alongside classical resources, with the goal of connecting and orchestrating machines built on different qubit technologies into one flexible infrastructure.

"We don't come at this revolution from the sideline, we build it." — Octave Klaba, Founder & CEO, OVHcloud

And in a separate but related win for French digital sovereignty: ChapsVision has reportedly replaced Palantir as the provider for France's domestic intelligence agency, the DGSI — a meaningful signal about Europe building its own critical infrastructure rather than renting it.
