Jeudi · Avril · 23 · 2026  |  Focus: Medicine & Mental Health

What's up, everybody! It's Thursday / Jeudi, April (Avril) 23, 2026. Today we focus on Medicine. As always, I raise awareness about four major topics: Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which I've suffered from my entire life; Bipolar Disorder, which I have been stable with for over 16 years; the benefits of Music Therapy; and the benefits of videogames for Mental Health. I hope you enjoy these articles. Everything on this website is done by me — Zack Qayoumi.

🧬 EDS & HSD Research The Ehlers-Danlos Society

Participate in the EDS and HSD Biobank Research Study – May 4–8, 2026 | Los Angeles, California, USA

We invite you to learn more about an opportunity to participate in biobank research taking place in Los Angeles this May. As part of The Ehlers-Danlos Society's Global EDS and HSD Biobank, researchers are collecting biological samples and health information from individuals with different health backgrounds to support vital research into the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD).

This is a rare opportunity to directly contribute to science that affects millions worldwide — and right here in Southern California.

⚡ Personal Note from Zack I suffer from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome myself — that is precisely why I raise awareness about this illness. I have experienced discrimination in both my love life and my professional life because of it. I want my disability paperwork approved as soon as possible, because once it is, it will be against the law for Big Tech companies and startups to discriminate against me. This should have been done in the 2010s, when I first did genetic testing at UC Davis Medical Center. That is approximately 16 years of missing disability checks — support that could have helped me buy a new car and make mortgage payments. Raising awareness is not just editorial work. It is personal.

From the depths of evolutionary biology to the neuroscience of emotion, this Psychology Today piece examines why music holds such power over the human mind. It is not merely entertainment — music activates memory, regulates mood, and can serve as a genuine therapeutic tool.

For those of us who work at the intersection of electronic music, emotional wellness, and content creation, this research affirms what we have long believed: that sound is medicine. Music therapy is a legitimate, evidence-based practice worth taking seriously.

Gamer Wellbeing Study 2026: What 6,795 Gamers Say About Mental Health and Friendship

A landmark new study surveying nearly 7,000 gamers reveals the complex relationship between gaming, mental health, and social connection. Far from the stereotypes of isolation and addiction, many gamers report that their gaming communities provide genuine friendship, emotional support, and a sense of belonging.

This aligns with what I have seen in PlayStation 5 communities and livestream culture: gaming can be a profound social equalizer and a legitimate space for emotional expression. The data is in — and it supports a nuanced, humane view of the gamer experience.
