🎧 JETLAG RADIO 4900 Is Here
After more than a decade of building JETLAG RADIO, episode 4,900 (v1) is now live — my main DJ podcast, with more versions on the way.
💬 A Personal Note From Zack
I also recently watched We Are Your Friends with Zac Efron, and it hit me hard — the film used a few tracks from the first 10–20 episodes of JETLAG RADIO, recorded well over ten years ago. I couldn't afford to buy it digitally, so I put $5 from a Google Play gift card toward renting it and watched it twice. It's been a genuinely difficult stretch financially — I haven't had my usual $800/month allowance since October 2024, and I haven't drawn a salary paycheck since July 2019. I'm managing Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which brings a lot of fatigue, and Bipolar Disorder — though I'm grateful to say I've been stable for over a decade thanks to nightly medication and regular therapist visits.
The DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll has reopened for 2026/2027, and I'd be so grateful for your vote — please vote under my legal name, Zaki Qayoumi (I go by "Zack," but that's the name that needs to appear on the ballot). I consider myself one of the pioneers who helped bring electronic dance music to the Midwest, starting in Columbus, Ohio back in 2003 and spreading it throughout the U.S. — passing out flyers, bringing guestlist crowds to the club, writing my weekly TECHNO CLUBBERS newsletter on Facebook. I did that work unpaid, for free drinks, because I believed in the scene.
These days it feels like every DJ out there is on Zoom or FaceTime with other artists, building together. I don't want to keep working in isolation. Right now, about all I can afford is a coffee shop visit once a week and boba once a month — but I'd love nothing more than to collaborate: in the studio with Ferry Corsten, Tiësto, Nicky Romero, Afrojack, Hardwell, Dannic, Dyro, Martin Garrix, Madeon, Justice, Daft Punk, Jean-Michel Jarre, Charlotte de Witte, Swedish House Mafia, Max Vangeli, AN21 — the list goes on.
